Part 1

Toxic churches: Classic warning signs

Visitors or new church members often cannot see the problems within a church, because they haven't gotten beyond surface relationships. The new member may be caught up in the enthusiasm of the pastors vision, or focused on the preaching or worship. It's just like visiting a family for an evening and not discern that there might be some abuse, so it can be hard to know a church family until you have lived with them for awhile...Members are usually not being abused until they have invested too much time and money to back out  easily. And those who are really involved but also recognize the problems, are scared of being labeled a "jezebel" from the leadership. This is why it is so neccessary to pray about where the Lord would have you fellowship. The same healthy attitude you would have in dating someone should apply to joining a church...
1. Elitism and or Isolation:  When a leader calls for isolation from other christians or the Body of Christ, "be suspicious". when the isolation is a distancing from other Gospel preaching, Bible-teaching churches, there could be a problem such as "pride" or even worse "witchcraft". When the leader begin to say things such as; "we are the only church with true revelation" or  "ain't nothing happening at that church" or "be careful of who you sit under" usually that leader has an agenda!!  The Bible is filled with instructions for having a loving regard for everyone who truly confesses Jesus Christ is Lord. In fact, Jesus said; that it is only in unity that the Body of christ will come into the fullness of God's will (John 17:23). When members are told to cut off all relationships outside of his church including your very own family, that should be considered a very serious warning, and you are looked upon as a infidel in the sight of God (1Tim 5:8). Isolation is a form of witchcraft to dominate and control the individual or individuals lives. We have pastors today who are practicing this in their churches, dividing  the church, "member against member", "husband against wives", and "family against family" etc.
2. Another bad fruit from leaders is called "Elitism". The attitude of a person with this spirit is a different standard. A standard between themselves and the people of the church. When this reaches an extreme, leaders will even think that they have a "special license" from God to do what they want even if it is contrary to Bible standards. I call this the "us-them" mentality!! leaders who refer to themselves as "God's anointed" leave you with the impression that- they are the only one called in the church. This church structure can soon have a hierarchy and pecking order, the same as in the secular world, based on world values, "the closer you get to the top of the pyramid the more spiritual you are". Those lower down (members) are basically just there to support the ministry of the "anointed one". This spirit of "Elitism" is at odds with Paul's statement in Eph 4:11-13. Paul states, that the apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastor/teachers are there to train and equip the church--the people--so that the members can do the work of ministry. These Elite pastors, bishops, prophets, and evangelists who have this spirit of elitism will be angered if others do not refer to them by their title's. "Jesus warned against afixation on titles", read Matt 23: 9-10.  "Anyone who is in God is called of God to serve Him" not the pastor!!  "And remember this, God is no respector of person"...Be blessed!!

TOXIC CHURCHES

The term "Toxic Faith" obviously means a faith that is poisonous and dangerous to one's health. There is a point in the life of a church when if God's love, compassion and mercy are not focused on, then the good news can become bad news. Jesus rebuked religious leaders of His day regarding new converts. "He said; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are"(Matt 23:15). Those leaders were very focused on the outer sacrifices but had neglected the issues of the heart. Jesus liken them to cups, clean on the outside but filthy on the inside.Because God is love, His first priority is our relationship with Him. In toxic faith churches the emphasis is first on performance and second on the fellowship with God. In John 15:8 Jesus said that the Father was glorified by us bearing much fruit(spiritual growth). But the way of becoming fruitful was to "abide in Him". The process of fulfilling the greatest commandment(Mark 12:30) is to first love the Lord with all your "heart". After that comes our "mind" and then our "strength".
When a leader begins using people to build his or her empire, ministry changes from a sacrifice of joy to slavery. God loves us deeply for a multitude of reasons. He loves us because we are His creation. He loves us because He knows and understands our weaknesses and frailties. He loves us because we are made in His image. He loves us because Jesus has made us presentable to Him. He loves us because, if we have given Him our lives, we are now His Spirit-filled sons and daughters. But in toxic faith churches, all those reasons are left behind and we become valued solely on the basis of how much we contribute and how hard we work. This type of legalism, or a performance-based relationship with God, affects not only our relationship with Him but with other people. Just like poison spreads, this toxic influence can effect any christian who is not covered by the blood of Jesus.  In another post I will be sharing classic warning signs of these toxic, abusive churches to help other believers know what to look for. Now is the time to seek the Lord like never before. "Do not be decieved", God is not mocked; for what ever a man sows, that shall he also reap. For he who sows to his flesh, will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the spirit will of the spirit reap everlasting life(Gal 6:7)...

"The Plague of Counterfeit Leaders"

(1 Cor 5:12-13) read; The Church has been and continues to be bombarded by wolves, thieves, hirelings, and novices in positions of authority. while wolves and thieves will not likely repent, hirelings and novices may..We must learn and obey the Bible mandate to call these men/women to repentance instead of taking part in empowering these people with your time, and money..Christians can go from bad to worst, from the frying pan to the fire when they bounce from church to church..Most refuse to go to the word of God and rest there for a season while they study and learn the difference between genuine and counterfeit churches..Read 1 Cor 5:11-13; The context is concerning among other things, "sins of idolatry, greed and swindling" this is exactly what the problem is with false leaders!!
Claims of "God's purposes" by todays pastors are often nothing more than a cover-up for selfish ambitions of these people disquised as God's purposes..No christian should have to endure the merry-go-round and roller-coaster rides of a "pastor" experimenting on God's children to see what works..All they have to do is get one prophesy right and the christian believer will believe every thing that "pastor" say's, even when they know that God did not say a word..When the body of Christ undergoes this kind of experimentation, it's like a human body at the mercy of a demented doctor..No pastor/elder is allowed to depart from the clear teachings of the bible in order to try new things..Some are teaching doctrine, that have been doctored up to decieve people because they want to prove to others that they are ok especially if they have had a tramatic experience in their life such as; raped or molested..Some because they want to prove something to family or friends, wrong motives for ministry!!  Even worst, some are self proclaimed prophets/pastors..The reason that so many christians embrace the false teachings of many of these men/women is so that, they can keep the traditions that, they have grown so fond of even though Jesus made it clear, that man-made traditions are dangerous (Mark 7:13)..Christians who follow the traditions of men rather than the ways of Christ, have no clue that their worship(Sunday Service) is done in vain..If you are in a ministry that you are questioning?? That's your first clue that it may not be of God..Always remember that it's "God First", Family Second, and then Ministry..If your pastor comes before the family you are out of spiritual order, and most likely decieved...Blessings!!

"Mind or the Spirit"?

I heard this very well known Pastor on Television quote, or, shall I say misquote this scripture...He said; the
natural (mind) does not recieve the things of the spirit of God...(1 Cor 2:14) actually says; "But the natural (man) recieveth not the things of the spirit of God...In other words, this Pastor fails to draw a distinction between the natural (mind), and the natural (man)...The Lord never said, we had to suppress our minds to experience the spirit of God, because if we put our minds at rest or in neutral, we would become passive(like a sponge soaking up whatever is given)to us...We are to guard our own hearts because our heart can decieve us...God communicates to man through intellect(mind) not our feelings or our spirit only...(Rom 12:2)
says; "we are transformed by the renewing of our mind(through the word) not by experiences, this means it is not subjective but objective...(1Cor 2:16) says; we have the mind of Christ...We are to be alert and sober minded...Just as Christ used His mind, we are to use ours also...We are to love God with all our hearts, mind, soul, and strength...All these go "together', they are unified for our worship, our service, and living...the
mind is our protection and is not to be put aside and belittled as we hear so many teachings today...We are
hearing that you can't understand the things of the spirit with it, but the truth is, that we can't understand spiritual things without it!!  (Hosea 4:6) says; "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge" this requires thinking not feeling...God communicates with mankind via the intellect and senses, such as; "sight and
hearing" not being exclusive to feelings, because knowledge is recieved through the mind, it does not by pass
it...the bible says, The word became flesh, "Logos" is the word from which we get the term for logic and reasoning...Over and over in scripture, we hear the saying; "the word of the Lord (came) to Ezekiel", Jeremiah and other prophets, rarely does it say; the spirit came!!  God revealed Himself to the prophets by His word, yet the word and the spirit are synonomous, they work together...Saints, don't leave your minds at the door..."Jesus engaged the whole person, especially the mind"...Nowhere did Jesus tell people not to think, the word even tells us to "meditate and ponder"...In fact, Jesus gave long sermons teaching, engaging their minds...The Holy Spirit's illumination is when the mind is in full use...Amen

"The Fragrance of Christ"....

(2 Cor 2:14-17) "Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triump in Christ, and through us diffuses the
fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being being saved, and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other, the aroma of life, leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ...God speaks of our prayers as incense in the OT, and the sacrifices as a sweet smelling aroma unto
Him. We are His ambassadors to the world, and we are a family, His body in the earth...Though we may not all meet together, we are united in the spirit as we worship Him in spirit and in truth...
If this is what the "church" is supposed to be united in, "why, do we disagree"? Why, are there conflicts in the church?...The answer is simple, "My people perish from a lack of knowledge"...It should be obvious, if you
are observing what is taking place in the church, and understanding it from a biblical perspective...There is alot of garbage(mess)coming in the church today..."Some teachers", that were once grounded in scripture have been corrupted(influenced)away from their place(contending for the faith)...Discernment isn't coupled with truth any more, and silence within the church is a big problem...If we believe God's word, then we should be on guard about those who come in His name to decieve with their teachings, prophecies and their solicitation of money to have a blessing..."Watch and pray"...

Powerful teaching about "TRUE Christainity" from G. Craige Lewis Part 1

Gates of Refuge Bishop Calvin B Johnson Message Title: The Deceived Chur...

"Mary's conception"

"Physical conception vs. Spiritual conception":
I believe that Mary's(mother of Jesus) conception was written not only to help us understand, how our Savior came into the world, but it was written so that, we would have a revelation of our own spiritual
conception of the word...Not only did Mary give birth to a son, she gave birth to the word!!...(Luke 1:26-
27) "Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a
(Virgin)betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David...The (virgin's) name was Mary...
"Virgin", meaning without intimacy!!...Before conception can take place, we have to "come in" (luke 1:28);
we have to come into faith and intimacy(personal relationship)with God...In, (Luke 1: 29-31) it say's; But
she was troubled at his(angel)saying, perhaps in fear, just like some of us having a baby for the first time!!..
"She probably wondered if she would carry the baby to full term"? She probably worried about what people
would think of her being pregnant, and unmarried just like some of us!!...But remember what the angel said;
"rejoice, highly favoured one, the Lord is with you, blessed are you "among" women"...The day that we
recieved Christ as our personal Savior,"conception took place"...Anyone in relationship with Him should
not be barren(unproductive)...The word in you should be growing, and others should see the evidence of
pregnancy...The devil can't stop our "conception", he can't make us "abort" our promises, abortion is up to
us...With the help of the Holy Spirit, we give birth to the "word of God', we give birth to our healings, our
deliverances, our blessings, our prosperity, our harvest, and everything God has for us..."Mary demonstrated
humility," she waited on God to bring His promise to fulfillment, she carried God's seed(word)to full term
and was called blessed among women...(Luke 1:45) "Blessed is she(you) who believed, for there will be a
fulfillment of "those things" which were told her (from) the Lord"...
Blessings!!!!!
